Products We Love: Being True Harmonizing Collection

Oily-skin haters rejoice! One of my favorite products recently, has been the squeaky-clean feeling, freshly-scented, mattyfing harmonizing line. I'm oily prone andI'm also break-out prone; using a line like this that will control my oil situation without completely drying me out is really, truly ideal for me.

How to Fight the Oil: and WIN!
I start off my skin care regime with the harmonizing gel cleanser. The cleanser has Lavender essential oils (did you read our post about that?) and natural astringents to gently cleanse without stripping my skin. So I splash a little water on my face, put a small amount of the cleanser on my fingertips and lather away. Not a super-thick lather, but it smells amazing and it definitely gets everything off. Rinse with cool water and pat dry. ($35 for 200ml)

Not a part of the harmonizing line, but because I'm breakout prone I also use the clarifying toner. This toner is perfect for oily skin, and it removes the residue that tap water leaves behind. Trust me- your skin care routine is not complete without a toner!*If you're oily but not break-out prone then you may need our soothing tonic which is non-drying and for more sensitive skin. Apply a small amount with a cotton round and voila! You're ready for round 3. ($30 for 200 ml)

Round 3 is my favorite part: the oil control hydrator. Notice how it's not called a moisturizer? Because it doesn't have that super-rich, lotion-like feel to it. It moisturizers with antioxidants and antibacterial properties without adding too much oil to the skin. Three or four pumps from the bottle covers my entire face in a nice, easy, light matte finish. I especially love it for the day because it strikes just the right balance between oil control, without making me look like I have incredibly dry skin! ($52 for 30 ml)

And finally is the weekly pampering option: The harmonizing oil control mask (kit includes ritual bowl and brush for application). It contains argille clay, arnica montana extract, as well as lactid acid. Used in combination all of these ingredients help to heal and brighten the skin, while providing oil control and making skin oddities and enlarged pores less noticeable.

The result? Immediately clean, fresh, and controlled skin.

You're welcome.

Specialty Massage: Autumn Clearing

If the scorching hot days of summer left you with some relaxation to be desired, you absolutely must come visit our new massage therapist Danielle! One of Danielle's strong points is her knowledge of aromatherapy. But wait, what is aromatherapy? It's very simple...In Sunquest terms when we use aromatherapy we are using essential oils to enhance your well being. Essential oils are not simple perfumes or fragrances, they are much more potent. Real essential oils (such as the ones we use) increase your sense of well-being and do not contain synthetic chemicals.

We can easily customize any massage or facial for you with aromatherapy add-ons. But what we've done this fall is create a unique essential oil blend consisting of:

-Organic grape seed oil: our base, packed with antioxidants.
-Geranium from Madagascar: relieves feelings of stress and anxiety while balancing oily/dry skin.
-Ylang Ylang from Madagascar: helps to assist those with high blood pressure, physical exhaustion, nervous tension, and anxiety.
and
-Clary Sage from France: has a calming and soothing effect on nerves and emotions.

Danielle has custom blended this blend to help you quiet and clear your mind, calm your body, and lift your spirits as we gently descend into the fall season. Sounds to me like meditation in massage form!

We're Making a Big Stink: Poopourri!

Happy Wednesday, readers! Today is the day we introduce you to one of our favorite products. We can't seem to keep a bottle in our spa bathroom for more than 5 days at a time- someone either steals it, or uses it all! So without further adieus, today's feature product is : Poopourri.

Oh stop cringing! Everyone's got to go sometimes, and it's part of human nature. What isn't fair about "human nature" is the stench that sometimes lingers and embarases the bathroom users. There's nothing to make you feel self-conscious like having to use a public restroom or even a restroom at a friend's house. Besides, it's just plain unpleasant!

So here's the solution that Poopourri has to offer you:
"Spritz the bowl before you go and no one else will ever know!"

Catchy, isn't it? Well whoever coined that phrased for the company wasn't too far off at all! It really does work, and it's our favorite bathroom deodorizer. Because it uses essential oils to trap the unpleasant smells in the actual bowl, whoever uses the facilities after you will only smell a light, citrusy smell. It's septic-safe and environmentally friendly, and it's not an AIR deodorizer. In fact, they're so confident you'll love it that they offer a 30-day money back guarantee. We love a company that stands behind their product!

Products We Love: Being True Radiance Reveal

What it is: Super magic anti-aging potion. OK, maybe that's a bit much. But what it WILL do is brighten and liven up dull skin. It will help to keep your skin blemish-free and even out your complexion, all while combating the signs of aging at the very root of the problem.

What it does:
Apply this lightweight serum 1-2 times a day and watch your skins transform from dull to vibrant in a matter of weeks. It's easily worked into your current skin care routine ever if you're not already using Being True Skincare.

What's the secret? It's no secret that antioxidants are great for your skin. EPF stands for Environmental Protection Factor---basically what it means is that your skin (when using the Being True products) is 95% protected from environmental stresses such as pollution.

What's in it: It contains 0.5% super antioxidant, Idebenone which is a man-created Co enzyme Q, which has an EPF 95. It also contains licorice, mulberry, green tea, Retinol, vitamin C, & Methyl Gentisate.

Wallet impact:
$110 for a 1 oz bottle. Wait! Don't wince just yet! This product is very potent and you only need a little bit to get the results you want.

Warnings: Because it contains Retinol, you'll want to limit your sun exposure to avoid burning.

The Healing Touch: About Reiki Massage

Sunquest Day Spa is proud to announce the arrival of our new massage therapist, Danielle Pfaff. Danielle is an integrated massage therapist blending such modalities as: Deep Tissue, Swedish, Sports massage, prenatal, shiatsu, reflexology, acupressure, thai massage, polarity, craniosacral, and more! Danielle is also a Level 2 attuned Reiki practitioner, and has an extensive knowledge of Aromatherapy. Here is a Q&A done with Danielle about Reiki and it's benefits:

Danielle Pfaff
Massage Therapist
Reiki Practicioner

Q: What is Reiki?
A: Reiki is a form of alternative medicine and Japanese healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that a life force of universal energy flows through all of us. There are many forms of Reiki- I am trained in the Usui method.
Q: What does Reiki mean?
A: Reiki is generally understood to mean universal life energy.
Q: What is Ki Energy?
A: It is the same word as Chi or Qi, the Chinese word for the energy that underlies everything.
Q: What can I expect from a Reiki session?
A: During a Reiki session you will remain fully clothed. Only socks and shoes need to be removed. You will be comfortably positioned on a massage table. To begin the session I will use my hand to assess your energy field as well as your "ki" flow. This will help me to identify the Chakras in your body that are blocked. I will then begin placing my hands on your Chakra points throughout your body. I move from these points once I feel the Chakra has been opened.
Q: What is a Chakra?
A: A Chakra is a nonphysical aspect of consciousness. There are 7 Chakra point in your body which dictate the flow of energy that goes through our systems. The function of the Chakra is to reflect the conscious choices that we make- to show how we are choosing to respond to the world around us.
Q: What are the benefits of Reiki?
A: Reiki energy work has been scientifically tested and found to be beneficial as a form of pain management, stress relief, and healing. People who use Reiki before and after surgery have reported experiencing less pain and quicker healing than expected. Reiki is also now being used in many hospitals for cancer patients and others who may be terminally ill, to comfort them and relieve their stress.

If you'd like to increase awareness, decrease stress, and improve your capacity to heal more quickly, then you are a well-suited client for Reiki energy work. A 25 minute session administered by Danielle is $50. Readers interested in Reiki should contact us at 732 462 6000 and ask to speak to Danielle or book an appointment with the receptionist.
